TImer
After a long period of time yesterday the timer is finally finished. It took me a Jake a good hour and a half to try to figure out it what was not working and why you could not move. Next I want to get the game world in there and make sure things are okay with that. After that is finished add the physical zones then try to chanllange myself by adding a score board.

House done and so is document 1
Well, I completed my goal plus some today. I gave the house to Chaz and the final document with everything corrected with pictures to Dustin. I just wanted to tell everyone good luck on Saturday and I hope that all goes well. After we receive some feedback on Saturday I can't wait until we impalement the ideas that I am sure we will receive.
All in all have faith guys. We all did work hard and once this semister is over we should try to enjoy a day and try to get a head start on next semister.

Idea used
OK... So, yes I havent updated in a good while. Yes, I know. I'm sorry. I'm not the type of person who uses excuses especially when it is my fault.
Second, I have been testing the level this time so that I know it will not be as fustrating to Jake. I really would not like to win that award for this project. The track looks good. I had to get rid of that twisting thing, because it would not work the way that I wanted it to. Also, I will need Jake's help on making a timer, because I would like the race to be timed.

Level finished
The track is now finished and is exported. What I have to do left is the testing it and adding the obstacles. Once those are finished adding a timer and then the game is finished.

New idea fresh start
The next project is already about two weeks in and I have already started. The new idea is a type of track with a person going around the track dogdging items and of course running and jumping. The idea started by going in a circle, but i thought that would be too normal so now I have a couple of ideas that I am working on right now. I will upload a picture of what I have built so far a little late on today.

Almost there
So, this is exciting. Everything works. Maze check, Health check, platforms check and fire half check? But that is the only thing that is left. The fire is in the game and it does take the person health down thank you Jake. I can kiss you it works so well. I am going to put a couple of more fire things in and then the last thing is making them appear and disappear. Then it is going to be very amazing. I am so exciting. I can wait... Until next time.

Platform
During class I was able to make two platforms work and put them in the game in the location they are suppose to be. I have one more platform left and to set up the health packs where I want them in the game. Then I can start the player and the fire entry. Marshall gave me the idea of having a dragon so I might use that. I dont know it would not take that long to just do a rough blocky dragon for the fire to come out of like of .hack like.

Level Finished

I do realize that I have posted 3 gaming up dates in the same hour... but hey at least I did them right. HAHAHAHAHA. Back on track this is what the level, well most of the level looks like. The player starting point and where the fire will come out is on the left. Also you can see the maze on the right. The platforms that are floating are the points where you have to get to. I just learned how to make moving platforms yesterday. Which I will have to work on tomorrow to but it actually in the game. I will also have to work on a size problem. I would like those two things to be accomplished on Thursday so I can start play testing this week and working on the fire. As soon as possible.

Mood Revealed
In class I am creating the room that the puzzle will be in. It will be just a generic room. However, the feel of the room will be cave like. I was thinking Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones and Drake's feel. Kind of like a old civilization, but somehow they are able to make these modern marvels that are unexplained.
Idea picked
After a week of working on it and talking to Jake about what is possible and what is not possible I finally have something down and I will start making.
As you know the idea started off as a couple of rooms. That would have took way too much time and now it is cut down to one room. This room would have puzzles. It was suggested that the puzzles that occupy the room be ones that the player is the actual piece. This was taken into consideration and the final design was made. (Pics will be up soon)
The room will have 3 puzzles before you can get to the exit. The first puzzle will be fire shooting at you. The second puzzle will be a maze. Finally, the third puzzle will be the series of lifts that will take you up to the exit.

Update
I finished the health pack in 3d studio during the weekend. I am going to texture it later on. It is just a box with a H... nothing fancy. I also modeled the switch for which I have left to animate so when the button is pressed it will go down.
Today in Project class I received the constructor videos so I can start doing the inside building construction today in class. I am hoping to finish all of that day so that I can start putting stuff in game.

Editing
So, after class I figured out that the gravity idea will not work. I will try to think of something else so that I can try to get that same effect. Also, Chaz is going to give me a couple video tutorials about Constructor so that I will be able to make the insides building since my whole level will be inside.
The last thing is that I have never imported a 3d studio max object in torque and I will have to ask someone how to do it. For the other projects we all worked in a group and Jason just imported and scaled them for me. Since I am on my own now would be a really good time to try it for myself.

All Rooms idea have now been completed
Be sure to check back later when I have uploaded the flow chart for how each of the rooms will be connected and what the player has to do for each of the rooms. What I remember is that there will be 8 all together and a final room with treasure in it. There will be fire puzzles and gravity effects. I will also have a room confusion thing going on.
Thinking ahead I will have to test the gravity room. The way I am thinking it will work is that the person will be switched from the ceiling to the floor and navigate by going both to get into the next room. My only fear with this is that it may be too disorientating to players by having their character switch like that.

Room Three and four revealed
Room Three- A set of objects on the ground. There will be two types: One will have the ability to decrease the players health the other one will do nothing. You have to find 5 good items of the 8 that are laying on the ground in order to open up the next door.
Room Four: This will introduce the ability to flip switches on the ground. Flipping the right switch will create a path that you will be able to cross. Flipping the wrong switch will do nothing and you cannot finish your way. Also on the ground will be aways to lower your health... ie... hot floor panels since lava is out of the question.

Idea one scrapped
Okay since the class yesterday and talking to Jake I actually know what I am going to do. I am going to make my idea way small. There is going to be one building with a couple of rooms. The exact number of rooms I don't know yet. In these rooms the player will be able to do a couple of things. The first room is going to be all dark once the player takes one step I want a series of lights to come on lighting up to the next room. In the next room the player health bar will come up with a low health then there will be heath floating around the player will be able to get health to make them have full health.

Idea One
This is more of a mood that I would like to go for. I want something that is kind of creepy. Even though I know I will not be doing the textures for it I have an idea that I would want the level to convey. However, I was thinking something like half life(since I have been playing alot of orange box)... So a FPS. with a mix of Resident Evil. There will be a winnie at the end of the level which would be a nueclar power plant of some sort. I also want a couple of buildings that will look run down since it is a old place that time once forgot. Dirty ground and dust balls from the old cowboy movies. I would like a fence somewhere in the level as well. I will have a couple of picture ideas later.

Too Hard
Would it be too hard to do an outside and them combine it with an indoor like we saw on the torque demo video?
Project Start
I believe that I found the item that I was going to do for the first project. I would like to try make a level. I have a couple of ideas that I would like to explore when it comes to this that I have to draw out. There is a couple of things that I will have to ask Jake about, now that I am thinking about it. Would we have to make a general game description for what we are making so that it will give people a better understanding. We will already have to have one anyway in order to create it, so why not just add it in there.
